Game Notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~
Zart is a variation on the 'pillbox' and 'bombard' games of yore.
Zart requires two players for regular play, or just one player for
practice. There is no computer-controlled player during practice.
Zart features real time 'head-to-head' play. The controls are
very simple yet will take even the most seasoned video game
player a few minutes to get used to.
The left player controls the base through using the 'A' key,
and the right player controls the base through using the 'L' key.
Each player only has ONE key. Here's how the keys work:
First you press your key and HOLD it down as you see the graph
at the bottom 'loading up.' That bar graph represents your
'powder charge,' and affects the strength with which your
projectile will be launched. When you have dialed in the amount
of powder you want, release the key and the gun barrel will
sweep slowly from 0° to 180°, where 0° points in the direction
of your opponent. This is your elevation. When your gun barrel
reaches the desired elevation, quickly tap the key again, and
this will fire the projectile. You may destroy your opponent's
base in one of two ways, either with a direct hit, where your
projectile contacts their base, or by a proximity blast, where
you remote-detonate your shell as it passes over your opponent's
head. When a shell is in flight, you may detonate it at any
time by pressing your key. This allows you to either proximity
blast your opponent, prematurely terminate the flight of your
projectile (when you see it coming back down on your base or
going completely wide) or to perhaps intercept the projectile
fired by your opponent. Experiment!
Scoring:
~~~~~~~~
Direct hit: 2 points
Proximity blast: 1 point
